Tale of Taylorians

It's been one week since college started, and since no other taylorian has bothered to give an update, I suppose, I shall have to (grumblegrumble what happened to yee yien, phoebe, li hsien, zhou hau, phang kit, etc, etc?)

I think most of us are gradually adjusting to life here in the college, with its shifting lunch hours and other necessary quirks, like walking from class to class and the weird LAN subject (weird because even the teacher doesn't seem keen on sticking to a syllabus). There's been a lot of activity going into trying to find textbooks, with everyone looking out for cheap alternatives, like used books, photocopied books, or used photocopied books.

On top of our studies, there are a lot of other miscellaneous things to worry about as well... there's the club and society registration day coming up soon, there's locker registration day sometime next month, there's always the problem of where to eat for lunch. And for those of us catching the bus in the morning, there's the ever present problem of (a) waking up early enough to catch the bus (I've missed it once >_< ) and (b) finding something to do while waiting for the bus after school. There's a lot of waiting since the bus typically comes an hour after school ends. The bus rides themselves seem to take about that long each way, too.

But I can't say things are all bad... I guess there's just a lot of getting used to college. Getting used to the teachers (some easier than others to get used to), getting used to the new pace of life (well, now I actually do work :) )... And getting to know new people, though it's a little harder for me since there's Jor How, Yee Yien, Wei Siang, Phang Kit, Harold, and lots of other people I already know in my present class. Those I know directly make a big part, and there are even those I sort of know, indirectly.

And it's only one and a half years we'll be together... Time enough to know and get fed up of each other, I suppose =). On the bright side, with people like Harold and this Indian guy from Penang who's really sociable, the 'getting to know each other' part is happening at an accelerated speed.

I think we'll survive the 1.5 years =)
